Diabetes is a risk factor for cognitive impairment. This study, an exploratory analysis of the larger Researching Cardiovascular Events with a Weekly Incretin in Diabetes (REWIND) trial, examined whether dulaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 agonist, improved Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and Digital Symbol Substitution (DSS) scores in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Some 8800 participants (mean age, 65) in the industry-sponsored, international, multicenter, randomized (1:1), double-blind trial received either dulaglutide or placebo as weekly injections.
