Conditions such as chronic fatigue syndrome, postural orthostatic tachycardia, and complex regional pain syndrome have been linked to autonomic dysfunction but have unclear etiologies. Investigators in Denmark examined the potential association between quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination and diagnosis of these syndromes in a national cohort of 1.4 million women between 2007 and 2016 (age range, 10–44).
About 35% of participants received the quadrivalent HPV vaccine. For the entire cohort, 869 diagnoses of chronic fatigue syndrome, postural orthostatic tachycardia, or complex regional pain occurred.
