Most studies suggest a relation between hypertension and epistaxis. In this Korean retrospective study, researchers used national health insurance data to compare two cohorts of patients: one with drug-treated hypertension and one without hypertension. Each cohort comprised ≈36,000 patients (median age, 52) who were matched by age, sex, socioeconomic status, and chronic disease. Patients who had diseases associated with epistaxis (e.g., sinonasal tumors, coagulation disorders) were excluded.
