The enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) model, which reduces surgical stress by optimizing perioperative patient care provided by multidisciplinary teams, can shorten hospital stay and reduce costs while augmenting quality of patient care. Although hospitals have begun to utilize ERAS programs for cesarean deliveries, few studies have evaluated this strategy. Researchers at a U.S. tertiary care center examined cesarean outcomes before and after ERAS implementation (2171 and 1508 deliveries, respectively).
