Observational studies have indicated a 90% cure rate with fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) for cases of recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). FMT has been postulated to work by restoring a diverse microbiological fecal milieu. If such a change occurs after FMT, an important question is how long does it last. That is, what is its durability? To answer this question, researchers at a single medical center retrospectively reviewed the outcomes of 460 patients with at least three prior CDI episodes who received FMT from September 2012 to January 2018.
