Although eosinophilic esophagitis is well known to clinicians, other primary eosinophilic disorders including eosinophilic gastritis and duodenitis are not widely recognized. Common symptoms associated with these disorders are nonspecific and include abdominal pain, bloating, early satiety, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and, rarely, hypoproteinemia. Lack of recognition of these disorders leads to misdiagnoses and delays in diagnosis and treatment. There are currently no approved therapies for eosinophilic gastritis or duodenitis.
