The standard of care for patients who are screened for colorectal cancer (CRC) using a fecal immunochemical test (FIT) and have a positive result is colonoscopy. It is presently not clear whether patients with a positive FIT but negative colonoscopy should resume screening with FIT or undergo colonoscopy after 10 years. Using data from the Taiwanese National CRC Screening Program, investigators assessed CRC incidence (per 1000 person-years) in over 9,000 individuals with positive FIT and negative subsequent colonoscopy, of whom two thirds underwent repeat subsequent FIT.
