In a survey of viremic unstably housed patients, a personal relationship with a provider and drop-in services were preferred clinic attributes.

Housing instability has been identified as a barrier to good health for persons living with HIV in the U.S. Investigators at San Francisco General Hospital's HIV clinic designed a survey of viremic persons living with HIV who are either homeless or unstably housed (HUH), to inform design of clinic services for that population. Respondents chose between two clinic designs varying across five service features: care team designed “to get to know me as a person” versus not; receiving $10, $15, or $20 gift cards for attending clinic visits; drop-in versus scheduled visits; direct phone communication to care team versus to front-desk staff; and staying 2 blocks versus 20 blocks from the clinic.
