Endovascular thrombectomy is performed primarily in comprehensive stroke centers (CSCs) with dedicated intervention teams and comprehensive imaging capabilities. Many community hospitals transfer patients with suspected large-vessel occlusion strokes to CSCs using the “drip and ship” (DS) model, in which thrombolysis is started at the initial hospital and then the patient is transferred to the CSC. These authors evaluated a new model with a mobile interventional stroke team (MIST), in which the intervention team goes to a thrombectomy-capable center instead of the patient being transferred. The primary endpoint of the industry-funded study was door-to-recanalization time. Clinical outcomes at 90 days were also recorded.
