The vascular pathophysiology of erectile dysfunction (ED) points to a strong association between cardiovascular risk factors and ED risk. Researchers examined the specific relation between diet and ED in this population-based prospective cohort study that involved data from a long-running study in male healthcare professionals. More than 21,000 men (baseline age range, 40–75; mean age, 62) without histories of ED, myocardial infarction, diabetes, stroke, or genitourinary cancer were followed for about 11 years. Diet was assessed by food-frequency questionnaires every 4 years, and two validated healthful diet scores were generated.
