SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence has been reported in specific U.S. populations and regions, but an extensive nationwide study has not been conducted. Building on a previous more-limited report, the CDC has published a large seroprevalence study assessing rates in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
During four collection periods between July 27 and September 24, a total of 177,919 samples of residual serum from two large commercial reference laboratories were tested for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. Overall, 58% of samples were from women, 27% were from people aged ≥65, and 15% were from nonmetropolitan areas.
