Elevated LDL cholesterol is a clear causal risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, the association of LDL cholesterol level with all-cause mortality remains unclear, and the LDL cholesterol level associated with lowest mortality has not been defined. In this study, researchers collected baseline data on 108,000 randomly selected adults of Danish descent and examined associations between LDL cholesterol levels and mortality during median follow-up of 9 years.
