Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) is a standardized mind-body treatment teaching purposeful attention to the present experience in a nonjudgmental and nonreactive manner. To compare MBSR with headache education, researchers conducted a double-blind, randomized, controlled trial including 89 adults diagnosed with migraine occurring 4 to 20 days per month (mean, about 7 days/month). Participants completed a standardized curriculum consisting of 2-hour weekly sessions for 8 weeks, with content specific to their assigned group. Follow-up study visits were conducted at weeks 12, 24, and 36.
