Cardiovascular Morbidity and Mortality After Serious Disorders During Pregnancy

The prevalence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and serious maternal morbidity have been increasing in the U.S. and around the world. Two research groups explore the long-term sequelae of these disorders in analyses of registry data.

To assess associations between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and subsequent cardiovascular events, Wu and colleagues examined data on 29,852 Taiwanese women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy diagnosed between 2006 and 2013 and 119,408 age-matched mothers without this complication.
