Risks for subsequent colorectal cancer (CRC) and CRC-related mortality according to baseline adenoma findings are unclear. For this meta-analysis, investigators identified 12 studies (with ≈500,000 patients) that reported CRC incidence and mortality after baseline colonoscopy; mean follow-up was 8.5 years. Baseline categories were no adenoma, low-risk adenomas (LRA; 1–2 adenomas <10 mm), or high-risk adenomas (HRA; ≥3 adenomas or adenomas ≥10 mm in size or with villous features or high-grade dysplasia).
