Understanding the risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 infection among healthcare workers (HCWs) is necessary to design policies for limiting such infection. In the first of two studies, researchers recruited 30,000 employees and medical staff at an 11-hospital academic medical system based in Atlanta, Georgia, to undergo serologic testing for SARS-CoV-2. Participants also completed a survey assessing COVID-19 exposures and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). In a second study, the same researchers expanded the results to include three additional healthcare systems in Maryland and Illinois.
