Transcatheter aortic-valve replacement (TAVR) is increasingly used to address severe aortic stenosis. These investigators assessed contemporary 30-day mortality outcomes with TAVR, with a particular focus on out-of-hospital deaths, in an analysis of data from the TVT (Transcatheter Valve Therapy) Registry, formed by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Cardiology.
The 98,578 eligible patients had undergone transfemoral TAVR without a concomitant procedure at 566 sites from January 2015 to March 2018. The primary outcome was 30-day out-of-hospital mortality.
