In the U.S., anaphylaxis incidence seems to be increasing, with an estimated lifetime prevalence of ≈1.5%. Between 0.7% and 2% of anaphylaxis episodes are estimated to be fatal. Researchers searched the U.S. FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) from 1999 through 2019, using the terms “anaphylactic shock” or “anaphylactic reaction” to determine the most common culprits. Data was included from the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, Japan, and Canada (the database includes reports from outside the U.S.).
