According to the 2017 McDonald criteria for diagnosing multiple sclerosis (MS), tests of the anterior visual pathway could provide objective evidence of neurologic involvement but do not currently contribute to criteria for dissemination in space and dissemination in time. The McDonald criteria expert panel designated validation studies of the anterior visual pathway as a high priority for future refinements. To better understand the sensitivity and specificity of these ancillary tests, investigators enrolled 150 patients with either clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) or early MS.
