Although the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) continues to decline in the U.S., there is an ongoing increase in incidence among younger patients. Investigators conducted a survival analysis for early-onset CRC using data from the National Cancer Database from 2004 to 2015.
Of nearly 770,000 CRC cases included in the analysis, 13.3% had early-onset CRC (defined as diagnosis at age <50) and 10.2% had later-onset CRC (defined as diagnosis at age 51 to 55); patients with a diagnosis at age 50 were excluded to avoid screening detection bias.
