There are few published data addressing the use of telehealth to provide routine antenatal care. In late March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a large Australian health system including three maternity hospitals implemented telehealth (video or voice calls) in the provision of antenatal care for low- and high-risk pregnancies. Investigators compared perinatal outcomes associated with conventional care delivered between January 2018 and March 2020 (20,031 births) and outcomes associated with telehealth between April and July 2020 (2,292 births). During the telehealth period, some in-person visits continued, with 53% of antenatal services delivered via telehealth; 95% of antenatal telehealth contacts involved video calls.
