To explore whether SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) and to identify any distinct characteristics, researchers reviewed all patients included in the International GBS Outcome Study (IGOS) between January 30 and May 30, 2020. The IGOS is an international, multicenter, prospective observational cohort study begun in 2012. Patients were classified as having “possible” SARS-CoV-2 infection if they had one clinical sign of infection, “probable” infection if radiographic findings suggested infection or clinical signs and epidemiological link both were present, or “confirmed” infection if they had confirmatory laboratory results.
