The Ryan White AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) provides funding for medical care (e.g., by paying health insurance premiums) in persons living with HIV (PLWH). To be eligible, patients complete an application with documentation requirements relating to residence, income, and insurance status. Federal requirements stipulate a 6-month cycle for such recertification, although each state's ADAP program has some control over the details of implementation; thus, some allow eligibility renewal every 12 months if participants attest to no change in status.
