Most studies of psychiatric disorders associated with psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES) are in adults. Pediatric studies are small and confined to cases from tertiary-care medical centers, leaving the full spectrum of disorders and actual prevalence and incidence rates unknown. This large cohort study, from the entire population of Denmark (in the Danish National Patient and Danish Psychiatric Central Research Registers), included incident cases of PNES diagnosed in in- and outpatient settings from 1996 through 2014 and matched groups of patients with epileptic seizure (ES) and healthy controls (HC).
