Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)–producing Entrobacteriacae are often resistant to quinolones and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, leaving no FDA-approved oral options for patients with complicated urinary tract infections (cUTI). In a retrospective, multicenter study, investigators evaluated the clinical outcomes of off-label oral fosfomycin versus intravenous ertapenem in discharged patients receiving treatment for cUTI. The primary endpoint was resolution of clinical symptoms at day 30 without relapse.
