Limited effective treatments are available for idiopathic hypersomnia, which is associated with excessive daytime sleepiness, prolonged nighttime sleep, and significant sleep inertia. In this phase 3, industry-sponsored, international, randomized trial, researchers studied the safety and efficacy of lower-sodium oxybate in treating idiopathic hypersomnia in 154 adults 18 to 75 years of age (68% female, 84% white).
