Cases of immune-mediated neurologic events such as Bell palsy, encephalomyelitis, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and transverse myelitis have been reported in temporal association with both COVID-19 itself and vaccination against COVID-19. However, such cases also occurred sporadically before the pandemic, hindering the designation of a causal association.
