Evidence suggests that influenza vaccines can prevent adverse cardiovascular events in addition to providing respiratory benefits, but no study to date has been conclusive. Investigators now have updated a previously published meta-analysis to include the results of a large randomized, placebo-controlled trial that was prematurely curtailed because of the COVID-19 pandemic (NEJM JW Infect Dis Oct 2021 and Circulation 2021; 144:1476).
