Prior studies have suggested that consuming tea might be associated with longer life; however, those studies have been concentrated in countries where green tea is consumed predominantly, whereas evidence for benefits of black tea has been mixed. Investigators used the UK Biobank — a prospective cohort with abundant sociodemographic, lifestyle, and other health information — to assess the association of tea consumption and lifespan among nearly 500,000 participants in the U.K., where black tea is consumed predominantly.
