Common clinical guidance encourages early treatment of acute migraine attacks. Early treatment with triptans has been shown to improve headache response (Cephalalgia 2008; 28:383). However, regulatory guidance in clinical trials requires that migraine attacks be at least moderate to severe in intensity before treatment; thus, recent clinical trials have not evaluated the efficacy of the small molecule GPANT ubrogepant in the treatment of mild migraine attacks. Researchers have now conducted a phase three, open-label extension trial, randomizing participants to usual care, ubrogepant 50 mg, or ubrogepant 100 mg.
