Less than one third of U.S. children get the recommended amount of sleep for their age (i.e., 11–14 hours per night for toddlers, 10–13 hours for preschoolers, 9–11 hours for school-age children, 8–10 hours for adolescents; Sleep Health 2015; 1:40).
