Perivascular spaces (PVS) may be a brain MRI proxy measure for pathophysiologic changes such as cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) and glymphatic dysfunction. Researchers analyzed whether PVS burden was associated with incident all-cause dementia, Alzheimer dementia (AD), and vascular dementia (VaD) in 1449 community-dwelling participants aged ≥50 years (mean age at MRI, 69 years; 46% male) from the Framingham Heart Study.
