Heavy alcohol consumption is an important modifiable risk factor for stroke, but links between alcohol consumption and stroke risk come mostly from cross-sectional measurements of alcohol consumption at a single timepoint. A recent study evaluated the association between annual assessments of alcohol burden over a 4-year period and subsequent risk for stroke, specifically in young adults.
