In the manufacturer-funded, randomized COAPT trial (NCT01626079), involving patients with heart failure and moderate-to-severe or severe secondary mitral regurgitation (MR), transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) with MitraClip sustained its outcome advantages over guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) at 3 years (NEJM JW Cardiol Mar 8 2021 and J Am Coll Cardiol 2021; 77:1029). The investigators now report 5-year outcomes for the 534 patients with available data (89% of TEER group, 85% of GDMT-only group).
