Asymptomatic coronary atherosclerosis is prevalent in Western societies, but how much risk does it impart for major adverse events, such as myocardial infarction (MI) or death? In this Danish observational study, 9533 asymptomatic people (age, ≥40; mean age, 60) underwent computed tomographic angiography (CTA). For each CTA that showed coronary atherosclerosis, findings were categorized as obstructive (≥50% stenosis) or nonobstructive and as either extensive (involving one third or more of the coronary tree) or nonextensive.
