Blockade of the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) has been shown to be an effective treatment for patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (MG). In a prior phase 3 study, intravenous therapy with the recently FDA-approved FcRn inhibitor efgartigimod was safe and efficacious in patients with generalized MG (NEJM JW Neurol Jul 12 2021 and Lancet Neurol 2021; 20:526). Now, investigators have conducted an industry-funded, international, randomized, double-blind, phase 3 trial (MycarinG) trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of an investigational FcRn inhibitor, rozanolixizumab, in this setting.
