Patients with any of several cardiac conditions may be treated with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs), and they are at increased risk for ischemic stroke. Limited data are available on the outcomes of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for acute stroke treatment in patients with recent VKA use. These authors analyzed the American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines–Stroke registry, including patients enrolled between October 2015 and March 2020. They compared patients with and without VKA use in the previous 7 days. The primary endpoint was symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH), confirmed by computed tomography, within 36 hours after EVT.
