Axillary lymphadenopathy after COVID-19 vaccination is common and can lead to prolonged imaging abnormalities. In a 2022 single-institution study from New York, researchers found that lymphadenopathy on breast ultrasound after the initial two-dose mRNA vaccine series lasted ≈18.5 weeks on average. The same research group now describes the time to resolution of axillary lymphadenopathy on ultrasound after COVID-19 booster vaccinations.
Investigators followed 54 women (mean age, 57) with ipsilateral axillary lymphadenopathy on breast ultrasound after administration of COVID-19 boosters.
