Patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) frequently have a history of an infection or vaccination 4 to 8 weeks previously. The association of GBS with COVID-19 specifically, and with some COVID-19 vaccines, has not been conclusively shown. To draw better conclusions with respect to the risk for GBS after SARS-Cov-2 infection or exposure to COVID-19 vaccination, two new, robust studies have now been done: A population-based, nested case-control study in Israel with a cohort of 3,193,951 patients aged ≥16 years, and a French study that aimed to quantify the risk for GBS according to the brand of COVID-19 vaccine used.
