Conjugate meningococcal vaccines directed against serogroups A, C, W, and Y are recommended for high-risk infants as young as 2 months, and for older children starting at age 11–12 years as part of routine care. In 2014, vaccines against serotype B became available for high-risk individuals aged >10 years as well as for adolescents based on shared decision making. Currently, three available vaccines cover serotypes ACWY and two protect against serotype B. PENBRAYA is a pentavalent vaccine that encompasses all 5 serotypes: Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, W, and Y polysaccharides are conjugated to tetanus toxoid (TT), and the MenB portion is composed of recombinant lipidated factor H binding protein (FHbp) variants from serogroup B.
