Mitral annular disjunction (MAD), an anatomic separation between the atrial wall where the posterior leaflet is inserted and the true atrial-ventricular annulus, has been associated with ventricular arrhythmias in patients with mitral valve prolapse (MVP). In this retrospective single-center analysis, investigators compared the outcomes of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) in 62 patients (23%) with MAD and 209 patients without MAD.
Baseline characteristics in patients undergoing TEER with MAD (median age, 82 years; 39% women) were similar to those in patients without MAD, although the former had greater prolapse height.
