The use of continuous deep brain stimulation (cDBS) of both the subthalamic nucleus (STN) and globus pallidus internus (GPi) has been shown effective for well-selected persons with Parkinson disease (PD) requiring a surgical intervention. These authors were interested in simultaneous benefit of using both regions, and they further explored the use of adaptive DBS (aDBS) techniques. The authors implanted bilateral DBS of both STN and GPi targets in six individuals. They reported data on dual-target cDBS that was collected over a 2-year period.
