In this clinicopathologic cohort study, researchers from the Rush Memory and Aging Project examined whether lifestyle factors were associated with cognition and postmortem brain pathology in 586 participants (71% female; mean age at death, 91 years). A healthy lifestyle score was based on self-reported nonsmoking status, physical activity of ≥150 minutes per week, light-to-moderate alcohol consumption, adherence to the Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet, and cognitive activity; most factors were assessed annually except smoking, reported at baseline only.
