Patients with cerebellar infarcts have a spectrum of clinical presentation, ranging from small strokes with good outcome to larger infarcts that can be life-threatening. A limited number of studies have compared medical and surgical treatments for cerebellar infarcts. In this analysis, researchers from five centers in Germany analyzed patients with cerebellar infarcts treated between 2008 and 2021. Participants had cerebellar infarction and were treated with either best medical therapy or medical therapy plus decompressive surgery. The primary outcome was neurologic status at discharge and at 1 year. A modified Rankin Scale score of 0 to 3 was considered a favorable outcome.
