Traditionally, the physician-editors of NEJM Journal Watch General Medicine have summarized only original research articles and guidelines. However, readers have occasionally asked whether we would consider summarizing selected review articles that are unique in some sense — for example, a review article that organizes clinically useful information in a novel way or provides a novel perspective on a clinically important topic. Accordingly, we've summarized a review article that we believe fits these criteria; it focuses on when not to use direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs). Please have a look at this example (NEJM JW Gen Med Apr 1 2024 and J Am Coll Cardiol 2024; 83:444), and give us some feedback: Do you think that occasional NEJM Journal Watch summaries of carefully selected review articles are a good idea, or not?
