Lifestyle modifications, such as a healthy diet, may decrease the risk for dementia. In this study, researchers used data from the Framingham Offspring Cohort to determine whether biological aging mediated the association between diet and dementia risk in participants who were ≥60 years old and without dementia at baseline. Biological aging was determined by an epigenetic clock established from DNA methylation profiles in the blood. (Several study authors are inventors of the aging algorithm used in the study.)
