Weight reduction is one of several approaches to treating patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). To examine whether tirzepatide — the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist that is U.S. FDA–approved for treating patients with obesity — is an effective agent for OSA, researchers conducted two industry-sponsored, multicenter, randomized trials.
