Few accessible testing methods exist for diagnosing Alzheimer disease (AD) among patients with cognitive symptoms or risk factors, which is a substantial obstacle to initiating the newer antiamyloid immunotherapies. In two studies, researchers evaluated the utility of plasma biomarkers for predicting and diagnosing AD.
In one study, researchers in the U.S. analyzed whether changes in plasma biomarkers during ≈25 years were associated with incident all-cause, late life dementia in 1525 middle-aged participants (mean age, 58; 26% Black).
