Despite the use of mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for patients with acute ischemic stroke in the posterior circulation (distal vertebral artery or basilar artery), outcomes are not satisfactory for most patients. Whether injecting a thrombolytic agent following thrombectomy to treat residual clots or improve microcirculatory flow improves outcomes is unknown.
