While withdrawal of antiseizure medication (ASM) typically is considered following 2 years of seizure freedom in patients with epilepsy overall, the evidence on seizure recurrence risk after ASM withdrawal in patients with brain tumor-related epilepsy is limited. Studies with 2 or 3 years of follow-up suggest recurrence rates ranging from 19% to 27%. To evaluate long-term rates after ASM withdrawal or continuation, researchers conducted a prospective observational study in 71 patients with grade 2–3 diffuse glioma at three neuro-oncology centers in the Netherlands between 2014 and 2016.
